The Richest in the World

The highest-paid footballers in the world

Why this is a second list. It adds salary and prize money to advertising, sponsorship and business income. Even players who stopped playing, or never really left the spotlight, keep earning from their name: David Beckham, retired since 2013, took about $51 million in dividends from his brand company after record profits driven by World Cup ad deals (BBC, Heavy, Marca); Ronaldo Nazário is reported to still receive a monthly payment from Nike and fronts new campaigns (InfoMoney); and others made a second career in film and TV — Eric Cantona, Vinnie Jones, Ian Wright (Indulge Express). Lionel Messi earns more off the pitch than on it, according to Forbes.

Who earns the most in a year — not only net worth. The first ten are the Forbes list of the highest-paid soccer players 2026/27 (read in Spanish, Italian and German); two retired players show what a famous name still earns. Live figures as of 2026-10. Net worth is an estimate: the figures below are those of the sources named under each entry, not our own calculation, and they move with every stock-market day.
